Gilbert Honors Veterans

Gilbert residents and leaders are honoring veterans this week, starting with the Ninth Annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Town Hall.  The event, held Thursday, November 7th, included military vehicle displays, resources for veterans, music, and keynote speaker Richard Romley.

“Our soldiers fight and die, not for the glory of war, but for the prize of freedom,” said Romley. “We as a nation must always honor our veterans.”

Mayor John Lewis declared this week Veterans Week in the Town of Gilbert.  The ceremony closed with pipes and drums from the Gilbert Fire Department Ceremonial Team followed by a catered lunch.

The Town of Gilbert Parks and Recreation Department and the Merrill-Mitchell American Legion Post 39 host this annual tradition.
