Special Olympics, Gilbert Police Five-O Car Show

Gilbert’s Police Department is planning something big for the first annual Five-O Car Show to benefit Special Olympics Arizona, Unified Sports.

Eve Vance is the Head of Delegation for Gilbert Roadrunners. “The goal of Unified Sports is taking a special needs kid and partnering them up with a typical kid …a typical athlete. Someone that does regular sports and wants to help out with special needs kids,” said Vance. Year round sports are available to these kids and include: football, basketball, cheer, track and field, bocci, swimming, equestrian and tennis. There are also many winter sports available. The team appreciates when the Gilbert Police department comes out to be with the athletes. “They love it, they love to see them in uniform actually coming out. They love getting to sit in the cop car. They think that’s the really cool part,” said Vance. Funds raised from the event will help Unified Sports teams pay for sports equipment, travel expenses, uniforms, meals, office supplies, etc.

The car show will be held on Saturday, November 9 at SanTan Village in Gilbert, Arizona from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The fee to register a car for the show is $15.00 and all cars are welcome. Sponsorships are available at different levels.
