Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Hero of the Month

RRRherolindapchecoLinda Pacheco is a California transplant who has made Arizona her home for the past six years, four of which have been at The Highlands at Spectrum apartment complex. Though Property Manager, Dina Evors, says that Linda is well-known in their community for any number of philanthropic deeds, her recycling passion was the driving force behind The Highlands‘eventual participation in the Town’s current multi-family housing pilot program.  Prior to commencement of the program, Linda took it upon herself to regularly collect recyclable materials from neighbors and retrieve direct mail flyers and glass or cardboard tossed away in trash bins by residents.  Linda would then drive the collected materials over to recycle containers located elsewhere in the Town.

Once the pilot was initiated, Linda worked with the property management company to distribute small recycling containers (provided by the Town) to hundreds of residents.  Currently, she collects these small containers from many of her neighbors who are less ambulatory and empties them into the larger collection bins located throughout the property.  Facilities Manager Josh Markham, and Linda both complete routine audits of the recycle containers to mitigate any contamination of the recyclables collected.

Linda’s enthusiasm for a greener community inspired her property manager and resident’s alike to jump on board with participation in what is now a smoothly run recycling program at The Highlands at Spectrum.   This makes Linda Pacheco the Town of Gilbert’s Reduce Reuse Recycle Hero of the Month.
